EarthTrip Message 2 from Bangkok
From: Chris Tarr < ctarr@alum.mit.edu >Happy 4th of July to everyone in the USA, I don't think I will be seeing any fireworks today. Actually, I took a 12 hour trip from Siem Reap Cambodia to Bangkok today. The Angkor Wat temples in Cambodia were magnificent. These temples were built from the 9th to the 14th century by the people of Angkor and are devoted to the Hindu and Buddhist gods. The size and grandure of these places is hard to believe. They are all set in the jungle and one can just sit and take in the atmosphere for hours on end. I believe that scenes from the Tomb Raider movie were shot here. It does feel like you are in some Indiana Jones movie. So it feels nice to be in Thailand now though. I will spend a couple of days buying a few things I need before heading up to Chang Mai in the North where I will relax in the mountains and hopefully take a 3 day cooking class and possibly even a massage lesson. I'll let you know how it goes. Okay, hope everyone is having a great 4th. Have a few grilled burgers and sausages for me! -Chris
